Texas Video

Photography by George Hosek

This page features videos of Texas, so far these short video clips are just test clips, I'm still figuring out the best way to format and display videos on the web. Hopefully, in the near future I will have some full length videos of Texas to showcase.

I recently shot the Houston Art Car Parade, Hermann Park, and San Jacinto Day ( Battle of San Jacinto ) its only a matter time before these will be available for viewing.

So please bare with me as I continue working on this aspect of the site.

If you have ever thought about moving to East Texas, then Lufkin may be just the town you're looking for, small but growing quickly with many new businesses and lots of recreational opportunities. Where quality of life second is second to none. Maybe that’s why Lufkin is one of Texas’ first Certified Retirement Communities!

There are a great many things to do in Lufkin. From fishing, hunting, award wining zoo and museums, sporting tournaments, fun festivals, art and cultural events bird watching and outdoor sports just to name a few.

Rainbow Brazoria County, Texas

This rainbow formed late afternoon on July 25, 2006, less than a mile from my home, in Brazoria County.

Earlier in the day my new tripod ( Bogen 3021b ) and video head ( Bogen 501 ) arrived, so I was looking forward to trying them out by shooting the sunset near the canal close to my home.

To my surprise a rainbow formed directly over the canal, it lasted for about 20 minutes and kept getting better as time went by, until it was finally swept up in the approaching storm clouds.

There are many options for the shore bound angler at Surfside. You can try your hand at wade fishing the surf ( as the fishermen in this video ), if the surf isn't producing you can wade fish the bay, any number of the gravel/dirt roads will get you there.

If you prefer to stay high and dry, try the jetties at both Surfside or Quintana, the San Luis Pass fishing pier and the Brian Beach fishing pier.

Alligators roar like lions and often fight to the death for the right to mate. The alligators at Brazos Bend are no different, the growl of these two gators could be heard from far across the lake.

Noisy black-bellied whistling ducks, moor hens, pilated woodpeckers, blackbirds, crows and many other birds can be heard in the background.

The pier at forty acre lake is a place where kids and adults come together to relax and play.

The calm water of the lake reflects the pier and trees in late afternoon sunlight.

Lightning and Tornado in Brazoria County, Texas. I chased this storm early one morning in June 2006.

After about an hour of chasing I finally managed to get in position to shoot and capture this small tornado, I didn't even realize it touched ground, until later when I looked at the footage on a TV.

At San Luis Pass Fishing Pier you can catch all kinds of saltwater fish, including, redfish, speckle trout and flounder, even large fish such as shark and tarpon gather around this deep water pier.

San Luis Pass is the water connection between the Gulf of Mexico and West Bay, it lies halfway between Galveston Island and Surfside, its about two miles long and between ten and forty feet deep.
