Finding the right moving company can be stressful and expensive if you don’t take the necessary precautions. There are several steps you should take when hiring a moving company.

First find three or four moving companies that have offices in your area, make sure they have been in business for at least 5 years but longer is better, make an appointment for them to do an in-home estimate, if they won’t do an in-home estimate find someone that will. Visit their office and take a look at their trucks and storage facilities, decals on their trucks should be permanently marked with the companies name.

After you have several estimates, ask each mover about the difference in pricing, one company might offer a service the other doesn’t, such as the amount of insurance included. Do not sign blank contract, read any paperwork very carefully.
